FAQ
How do I know if the timing is right?
If the team is capable and something still feels off — in how things move, in how priorities land, in whether the operating model is serving the pace you need — the timing is probably right. If you are not sure, a single advising session can help diagnose whether a longer engagement makes sense.
How is this different from hiring a consultant?
A consultant studies the problem and delivers recommendations. I join the team, and depending on the level of engagement needed, attend the meetings, make decisions alongside you, and stay until what we built is running without me. I am not measured by the quality of the document I delivered. I am measured by what your organization can do after I leave.
More importantly: the nature of this work has changed. Building resilient operating models for AI-augmented teams is not a deliverable you hand someone to produce. It is something you decide together, build together, and test in the real conditions of your organization. That requires a working partner, not a vendor.
How does an engagement actually start?
Usually a conversation first, not a proposal. We talk through what’s going on, I ask a lot of questions, and we figure out together whether this is a fit and what shape it should take.
Will you partner with my existing CoS or Product/Eng Operations Lead?
Yes. If you already have an operator in the seat — product ops, an R&D Chief of Staff — I work alongside them and leadership as a strategic, collaborative partner and change-management expert: a partner with the range to pressure-test decisions and drive the change work they do not have the bandwidth to own alone, working with their judgment, not around it.
How long do engagements typically run?
Embedded operations leadership typically runs 6 to 12 months or longer, depending on your pace, goals, and the work ahead to achieve them. Project-based engagements are scoped individually. Advising can be as short as a single session.
What happens after you leave?
The operating model keeps running. Part of the work, especially toward the end of an engagement, is making sure that handoff is real. If it makes sense, I can also help you hire and transition an operator to backfill the role. If I’ve done my job, nothing breaks when I walk out.
What kind of organizations do you work with?
I’ve worked with product teams as small as 20 and as large as several thousand. I’m especially impactful for growth stage companies looking to prime their teams for change.
How do we know if it’s working?
You’ll feel it before you can measure it. Decisions move faster, priorities stop shifting every week, and the friction that used to eat a Tuesday afternoon starts to disappear. We also set specific markers at the start, so it is not just a feeling.
